SIGMA LIFE-SIZE ATTACHEMENT Ø52 as a tube-lens ?
Hello everyone,
I have been looking for the best tube-lens form my Lu Plans. I have already asked for that:

but I have just learnt that the SIGMA LIFE-SIZE ATTACHEMENT Ø52 could be a good one.

My tube lens history:
Nikkor 70-300mm VR
Morfanon
Nikon MXA 20696
Raynox DCR-150
Reichert tube lens (from microscope head)
Sigma Life Size attachment
Sigma is my favorite - best quality and most comfortable to use.
Morfanon & Nikon MXA 20969 are sold.

Hi Saul,
I still haven't found, what I'm looking for :-)
My tube-lens history is very short:
I have used only two lenses up to now:
- CANON EF 70-200L ( for the full magnification of the microscope lens)
- CANON EF 100L macro (for the half magnification of the microscope lens)
BTW, what do you think about the original tube-lens from NIKON ?

Sigma/Reichert/Raynox was better at the edges.Adalbert wrote:...BTW, what do you think about the original tube-lens from NIKON ?

Keep checking this link:

Sometimes they have Sigma, and price is better than on eBay.

Saul,
I got one long ago for about $20 on eBay. I suspect the price has gone up now lots of folks are using it for a tube lens. I found it slightly better than the Raynox 150, mostly lower CA, but didn't do an exhaustive test using the Mitty's.
Honestly, don't remember if it was better than the Nikon 200mm F4 "Q" lens though, did you happen to test it against the Nikon 200mm?
Best,
Mike

Hi Mike !mawyatt wrote:...did you happen to test it against the Nikon 200mm? ...
No, I do not own Nikon 200mm .
I made some comparison tests with Nikkor 70-300mm VR long time ago . I liked results very much - they were close to the tube lens (most probably I used morfanon & MXA-20696 at the time). If I'm focus stacking starter with limited budget - I would go for this lens, it is very comfortable to adjust magnification and results are pretty good.

Infinity - Mitu 5x, 10x, 20x, LDM 50x and Nikon 50x 0.55 (not pictured)Adalbert wrote:Hi Saul,
Many thanks for the links!
Would you tell me please which microscope-objectives do you use?
I use the photo-lenses (Canon EF as a tube-lens) for the LU Plan, BE Plan from Nikon and MSPlan from Olympus.

Yes, it will be a bit smaller, and so the image circle. But, if as I think, these ones are for the old metallurgical BH and not for the BX series UIS system they need compensating eyepiece and without it will show noticeable lateral chromatic aberrationSaul wrote:I think magnification will be different only.Adalbert wrote:...The Olympus lenses have F=180, so I’m not sure if the Sigma Life Size would be OK for them ...

Hi Pau,
Yes, so I remove the CA from the Olys like follows:

e.g. Olympus MSPlann 50x / 0.55
