More midge larva

These are the larva that hatched form a another egg mass from a recent pond sample.
As with the larva species in the "mystery" posts, these stayed within the gelatinous mass for some time after actually emerging from the egg (upper image).

Charlie, Great work with your photo's and "parenting" skills...A lot of time and patience there. I know many of us have seen eggs and wonder what these little packages will contribute to the food-chains.

thats an interesting looking specimen, and jaw dropping photographs of it!

so much detail!, i like the last darkfeild photograph, the specimen looks like a dragon or naga like serpent! capturing my imagination, facinating!
