Ceriodaphnia quadrangula, yet another water flea

Post by ralfwagner »

Hello,

this one was found in the plancton of a small heathland pond near Roermond, Netherlands.

Characteristics for C. quadrangula are: large complex eye, punctual nauplius eye, shell with polygonal fileds, 2 clear sections at the back-side and the straigt lined back, reddish colored.

a) female with an egg, oblique illumination.

Very informative and great pictures. I like reading the descriptions and looking for the mentioned structures. I have a cladocera w/eggs to post soon.
Thanks, Jim
