Waldo,

Super quality! Nice!

I'm curious... where is the "1.25X" coming from?... and does that mean these are crops from the FF (24x36mm) sensor?

Thanks Charles.

Since I moved to a FF camera body (both the previous 6D and my current 1DX) I naturally lost the (almost) 1:1 relationship between direct projection of the trinoc head and the APS-C sized sensor. Ideally I needed a 1.6x intermediate optic to enlarge the projected field of view to match the larger FF sensor to get the same coverage than before. This does not exist for Canon as per our previous discussions, and I was not impressed with the quality from some of the other commercial projection lenses.

So I am using the optically great Canon 1.4x III teleconverter. However this only gives me 1.4x. So to get a little bit more coverage I also (usually, not always) engage the magnification changer to its 1.25 setting. This gives an effective 1.75 enlargement, slightly more than the 1.6 I need, but in reality it covers the sensor almost perfectly, and is still a good enough match to my FOV through the eyepieces, strangely enough.

I have been using the system for a long time now like this (1.25 mag changer + 1.4 TC) and I am happy with the results.

As to cropping - no, these do not refer to cropping. I did crop the images above, but only by between 10% and 15% - mainly for composition.

Though I can't help liking the fluorescence shots, I really like the first one since it looks as though the euglena has an exhaust stream. All excellent shots.

The fluorescence shot reminds me a lot of gas clouds in interstellar space - the lack of details behind the starch bundles hints to the existence of something other than the chloroplasts.
