Macro rig
Here are few shots of the updated macro rig
Rig material - Maytec and 8020 aluminum extrusions attached to the high density granite base. Microscope base - Swift, unknown model
Microscope base came without illuminator - had to buy from the Ebay and mount using old 52mm UV filter ring
1. 0.8 degree stepper motor what gives me approximately 1 micron per step (without changing settings on the stepper driver)
2. Flexible coupling
Thanks Rik for this whole mounting idea, very easy adjustment !
1. Nikon PB-5
2. Foam gasket, keeps all optical setup from the wobbling
3. M42-F mount adapter
4. M42 extension ring with the Nikon MXA20696 tube lens
5. M42 extension ring
6. M42 focusing helicoid
7. Diaphragm made from the Surplus Shed SKU: M4182 iris diaphragm and couple adapter rings
8. M42-Mitutoyo adapter
9. Mitutoyo 10x
Controls are based on the Crouzet Millenium II 12v PLC , stepper driver and couple relays to control the shutter.
LCD displays step size, step count and stacking status
Connectors - stepper motor, shutter control and 12v power supply

Fantastic ... love the use of the controller ...

Update again - received lever handles from Ebay, now bellows are sitting on the sliding bearing. Result - more room for the microscope base , now it is rotated 180 degrees. And it is easier to change bellow's head height. New flash brackets and arms.
New and old stacking tables
New one is built from the Nikon Labophot/Optiphot leftovers. Old one - Swift microscope, suspect that it was M3500 model.
Nikon pros:
-rotatable table (big plus)
-now step is 0.5µm (without playing with stepper driver)
-flat table surface with stage (easier to place different diffusors over the specimen)
Cons:
-bulkier
-"famous" problem with fine adjustment gear
