Water Mite

Post by Olympusman »

Thanks, Charlie. I had two water mites on two slides watching them expire slowly. This one gave me the best result. I have found the 10% grain alcohol technique results in mites, copepods, daphnia, ostracods, etc. do expire very slowly so they don't contract as they die as would happen with Pen-Fix or glutaraldehyde which cause the specimens to constrict all of their extremities.
I just put the slides aside and check in on them every ten minutes or so.
