Micro setup for a Canon 5D mk2

I am wanting to get into micro photography, so I tried borrowing a friend's Canon 100mm macro lens. He may as well have given me a wide-angle lens, as the magnification was way too low for what I was wanting. I am looking to shoot stuff similar to this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/13084997@N ... 605407533/

What additional equipment will I need? Here is what I currently have:
Canon 5D mk2
Canon 50mm f/1.8 II
Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM

I do not have a microscope or any kind of lens/mount adapter. Does anyone know what equipment the photographer in the link I posted uses? I'd rather not try 100 different things and waste a lot of time and money if this is something that has already been figured out an equipment list for us EOS/full-frame shooters.

At this moment, the link that you provide shows me a gallery that starts with flashed insects in flight (for example http://www.flickr.com/photos/13084997@N03/8943548733/), then passes through crystallized chemicals shot with polarization (http://www.flickr.com/photos/13084997@N03/8678693425/), protozoa shot with DIC and flash (http://www.flickr.com/photos/13084997@N03/8539643821/), butterfly scales shot in reflected light (http://www.flickr.com/photos/13084997@N03/8506031186/), a snowflake in DIC with panorama stitching (http://www.flickr.com/photos/13084997@N03/8418124726/), some algae in darkfield (http://www.flickr.com/photos/13084997@N03/8209131801/), and what may be some protozoa in ordinary brightfield (http://www.flickr.com/photos/13084997@N03/8591599980/).

Each of those techniques calls for its own configuration of optics, illumination, and skills. To do them all could easily cost you the price of a new car and every waking moment for months or years to learn how to do them.

Can you narrow down the scope of your interests, or are you really looking to make this sort of investment?

This is the description of the equipment he uses, but how do I use my Cannon 5DII for this?

n/m...from this link: http://www.arcmicrooptics.com/ , it looks like it would cost about $5,000 to get all the parts I need :(

I have the will, and desire, and would probably do it every day, but do not the finances.
