Intro and ID

Post by leobalbi »

Hello all,

After a couple of years just enjoying the wonderful posts, I've decided made a little contribution and ask for ID help. A small diatom from a very old slide. The first picture was made with COL, on a Ortholux I, with Heine, the second one, also with the Heine condenser at the beginning of the dark field. Objective Pv Fl Oil 70/1.15, Ocular periplan 8x, Mikas adapter 1/3x, and a Pentax K200d.

Hi Leonardo, nice of you to post your images. It sounds like a great kit you have. The diatom looks like Rhaphoneis amphiceros, is it from a marine environment?

Best wishes, René

Very interesting images.
Your 70 X objective is very strange for me. I have never heard about it.

Hello Marek,

I don't know about the rarity of this objective, but it is the same listed on page 16 of this manual http://www.science-info.net/docs/leitz/LeitzHeine.pdf .

My Heine set is listed as Optical outfit C3, on page 19 in same document. But, unfortunately I didn't have the 10 pv objective :(

Here some pictures of it (sorry about quality, made them with cell phone and low light)

Ciao Arturo!

Thank's by your words.

My grandfathers are italians and I still have some parents in Italy (Genova e Venezia).

Un abbraccio,
