Thanks to the forum I found polarization filters (Edmund Techspec) that can be mounted in my Zeiss Axiolab between lens and head (20mm clear aperture and 25.0mm - not 1 inch - maximum diameter due to the filter drawer dimensions). I expected to find quarter wave and other retarders in the same diameters from the same source or from Thorlabs but without any luck so far.
Any ideas of a source ?
Thanks !

Full wave (lambda) is $354 and Quarter Wave is $466

LOMO sells their quarter wave plate here in the USA for $135 and their fullwave for $195

Such plates are easy to make out of mica and selenite as well as from birefringent plastic sheeting.

If you have a "standard" slider slot you might want to take a look at Motic accessories

Thanks for all the suggestions !
It seems that the DIN (Lomo, some Zeiss) sliders have a kind of open crescent at the end that makes them too long for the (older, not A1) Axiolab filter drawers. The Axiolab has little room between the optical path opening and the edge of the slider opposite to the handle. (The "hole" is very near the "far edge" of the slider for mechanical reasons). The best solution would seem to be taking the filter out and mounting it in a different holder.
I am wondering about films. Can one use them between the lens and head ? Do they have to be laminated or sandwiched with some glass support ?
