Here are a few more shots from the slide of the water boatman legs I worked with the other day.

The white areas seen in the first image (just below the leg joint) are a number of some type of protist "hangers on". (Since this is from a stack, and they are alive and moving they become somewhat indistinct)

Amazing photos Charles. Just think...every structure on these legs must be for locomotion in a liquid medium. I bet the groove in the third picture does something towards that end also. :-k
