Some rotifers

Post by Wim van Egmond »

Still going through my last years images. A couple of (not that spectacular) rotifers.

Really nice shots Wim. What is that last one? I've only seen it once or twice and never was able to photograph one.

Thank you. I was not that satisfied with the results but that was because I had some trouble with an uneven background with colour shifts. :) The bottom one, (I had to look it up) is Microcodon clavus. I had never seen it before. I made it with a 25X plan apo. The top image of a Polyarthra was done with a 50X leitz fluotar. It is funny that you can use it on a zeiss and the DIC effect is pretty o.k. Not very high in contrast but it gives a subtle effect.

The second and third image is of a rather plain rotifer that seems to lack an eye.

That last one reminds me a of a bouquet of flowers! Really nice.

Though we lean upon the same balustrade, the colours of the mountain are different.

Last one is just breathtaking. Are those reds, yellows and oranges pretty much what they looked or PS was used to punch it up?

Wim,

Very nice images. The last one is the best, at least for me.
