I just re-shot just the sucker disk part of this with a Zeiss X6.3 0.20 Neofluar, with the X40 DIC prism in the light path, Stitch of 38 individual pictures. Background desaturated in Photoshop.

Thanks Hindpool. I think X6.3 was about right for this subject. It would be great fun to do at X10, but that would require stacking to get adequate depth of focus and I reckon at least 1500 individual images, which I can't quite face at the moment! :)
