Some of the advice in this article deals with expensive equipment infrequently available to amateur microscopists, and some of the rest is just common sense, even self-evident. However, it may be useful to have a general reference.

That's the main reason I gave up on my micrscope's mag changer. It just made the whole thing too tall. I do like having an ergo head on my scope--I actually just git and repaired another one. It makes a significant difference.
