Clamp for macro

Post by CharlesT »

I have been using this thing for a year and it works pretty well for macro and wider shots.

It is simply a generic arca mount attached to a clamp.

The clamp can be attached to a horseshoe-style microscope which is then used as the focus rail

The camera then mounts into the Arca style clamp.
It is a lot easier/quicker to set up than a tripod and a focus rail, for indoor things.

I posted about putting it together on microbehunter, but I think it really belongs here !

That's a clever arrangement, for those with suitable microscopes.

I have added it to our long list of setups.

I would be nervous about hanging a camera vertically to a microscope like that.

Yes; I should say that the 600D and 35mm efs weigh 830 grams together.
I would be fearful about mounting either a full frame dlsr or a 100mm macro onto this setup.
(Not that I have either of them to try).
