Hey guys,
my name is Simon, I’m 28 years old and I live in Ulm, Germany.
I started microphotography in December 19 and bought my first microscopes and DSLR. I had quite a hard time getting into all of this, but finally got some pleasing results. My setup is not very well suited for my purposes, but it was the cheapest and easiest way to get in.
My first setup:
1950‘s Karl Zanger Monocular Microscope
Achromatics suitable for microphotography (Zeiss Jena & Leitz Wetzlar)
Olympus E-450
LED lights
I do not use an eyepiece, only direct projection on the camera chip.
My extended and actual setup:
1931 Carl Zeiss Jena Monocular Microscope / Karl Zanger
Achromatics 2,5 / 3,2 / 6 / 8 / 10 / 14
Nikon D 3400
Cold light source
LED light
small LED Torchlights
I‘m passionate with amber inclusions and love to stack them. Recently I started with „normal“ insect photography, but the requirements differ a lot and I‘m not satisfied with my actual quality. The lightning is not on spot and often to hard and overexposured. I need more experience in that case.
I‘m happy to be here and hope you like some of my pictures.

2) Fungus Gnat in Baltic Anber
3) Jantaricus Beetle in Baltic Amber
4) Leg of a bumblebee
5) Head of an earwig
Kind regards from Germany,
Simon
