When I worked for Olympus we had a similar item. I think it was called an endocapsule. It was about the size of the last joint of your little finger. You wore a vest with all the data pickups for 24 hours and then defecated it out. They were working on a system whereby technicians could steer the capsule inside the patient for a better look. It had an LED illuminator and the image quality was quite good.
