portraits of ants

Post by rjlittlefield »

This morning I became aware of a website dedicated to high quality photos of ants. Nice work!

http://ant-photo.eu

The gallery is mostly heads, selectable by subfamily. Take a look at Rhytidoponera taurus, in the Ectatomminae.

Text is available in Polish and English (button near top of page).

Nice work indeed!

It also struck me that *all* of the ant's jaws are open. Just like mine after noticing that... :D
It's the polar opposite of my usual results. Ant jaws are firmly clamped shut and break if I try to open them mechanically.

Is there a known technique I missed?

Superb!

Sent the photographer an email, I'll let you know if he responds.
