Steve Mould's video about Hirox microscopy

Post by rjlittlefield »

YouTube science educator Steve Mould has a new video out, "I made microscopic DRONE shots!".

The title refers to using a Hirox microscope equipped with their rotary head attachment.

But the video also spends some time on Hirox 3D surface capture and its use for 3D printing of artwork. This part revisits Hirox's work with the Johannes Vermeer painting, ‘Girl with the pearl earring’, discussed here in Nov 2023 at viewtopic.php?f=9&t=46688.

Cool video. FWIW, the same sort of drone-effect mirror system is available for some stereo inspection microscopes and video microscopes. Those rotate manually, but one could likely automate the rotation.

Yeah, I am pretty sure oblique viewing attachments have existed for quite a while, though obviously Hirox has been more successful with them.

Pretty neat. I'm sure that would be fun to play with. It's probably just a bit over my financial limit though! :(

The fully automated vertion is $68k

etc...

Bet there are "non-optional" extras too - like $6-figures fully kitted...

Cheers

Edit: Confocal version $168k   - https://quote.discover-echo.com/quote/confocal
Knowledge is cheap. Experience isn't.

Different company, no? And I'm guessing that price doesn't include objectives or condenser, since those are listed separately in "what do you need?" sections.

That is indeed a completely different company.
Here is the link to our latest model, the HIROX HRX-02:

It’s very hard to give the price estimation as there are so many possible configuration. But you can contact your hirox representative at hirox-europe.com or hirox-usa.com. There are also offices in Japan, China, Korea.
