I'd never have guessed its an ant. It does look like a hollywood alien!

interesting shot. I always thought the Mandibles protruded from the ant's mouth, I didn't realize they could collapse right in like that. I actually thought it was the ant's butt for a second until the whole head was revealed.

It looks like a stacked image. Can you provide details, number of shots, software used, shooting details, etc etc, etc.

Thanks,this picture was stacked with Helicon focus(around 50 shots)and I used a 10X Nikon microscope objective on a bellow.
