"Suppose I'm sitting at my breakfast table gazing into a bowl of cereal" I began. "And then suppose that I'm suddenly and inexplicably seized by a desire to photograph a Cheerio."
I chose this familiar subject to illustrate, step-by-step, the way I photograph and process a focus-stack for a class I taught -- LARGER THAN LIFE: A look at Higher Magnification Photography.
My class was one of many on a variety of subjects offered by New Dimensions, a program of continuing education in Grand Junction, Colorado for subscribers who are 55 years of age or older.
"The hard part," I told class participants, "was sorting through all of the thousands of Cheerios in the box to determine which of them was the most photogenic."

Re: Cheerio
That's a beautiful crisp shot--it's amazing how many details you can see in it.
But can you see why kids love cinnamon toast crunch?
