Spinnerets on a tiny spider

Post by Beatsy »

Trying to stick this spider to a 3mm glass sphere, with front end raised and the back end in a dab of resin, I twitched. The end result was exactly the *kind* of pose I wanted and in the right place on the sphere, but with the spider facing completely the wrong way around. Front end stuck in wet resin too. So I hit it with UV to set the glue and used a 7.5x Mitty at ~5x with APS-C crop mode (Sony A7rii) to capture the disaster.

But at least the spinnerets were conveniently presented, so did some stacking of those instead. This is from the same viewpoint but higher mag (20x Mitty @ ~13.5x for this and the rest)

This is a hard crop into the image above. Originally upscaled 2x in Topaz Gigapixel, but down-sampled again for the size limits here.

A more side on view to better display the structure

And a harder crop to finish

Right, back to what I meant to do...
