Re: New great lens from scrap
There is no way to do that within the forum (as far as I know).
So, you will need to use email outside the forum, either sending the STL as an attachment or using a file transfer service like wetransfer.com .
You will need to know the other user's email address, which they can best provide using a private message within the forum.

You should be able to PM it.
Thanks.

Thanks Rik. I have tried to send a PM but it is just sitting there in my Outbox and doesn't seem to be actually going anywhere.rjlittlefield wrote: ↑Sun Aug 18, 2024 10:07 amThere is no way to do that within the forum (as far as I know).

There is an "Add Files" button at the bottom of the PM window so I thought that should work to send a file?

On this, see viewtopic.php?f=29&t=33423 (FAQ: There's a PM stuck in my Outbox. What's wrong?).
That only works for a few supported types of files, notably .jpg and other common types of images. There is an "Add Files" button at the bottom of the PM window so I thought that should work to send a file?

Thanks Rik. All forums are different so I now know for this one.

Nice find. Quality looks great, at least at this size. Nice photo as well.

I have not tried, but what about renaming the STL file by tacking a .jpg extension to it?rjlittlefield wrote: ↑Sun Aug 18, 2024 10:52 am[...]

Re: New great lens from scrap
Some of these lenses are actually very good as they need to be essentially CA free, flat field lenses - Cannon made a small portable projector and I have a couple of those lenses I used in the same way. The larger NEC lenses also make interesting effects lenses for regular photography, or for making special lighting setups, floods, etc.
That one looks very similar, with a narrow "nozzle" that would be the pointing at the light engine, to ones I used. In terms of resolution, they need to be better than the pitch of the LCD would suggest, as they would need to produce the "screen door" separation between pixels edge to edge, and that's perhaps 3x the resolution of the light valves to meet that criteria. Your results a are really nice, especially for "saved from the dumpster" optics.
Awesome!
