Jumping spider nabs Black Soldier Fly

Over the last several years, Black Soldier Flies (Hermetia illucens) have gradually assumed increasing importance in the ecology of my backyard.

A few days ago, I noticed one that had achieved a new level of Prominence in Predation by giving its all in support of a local jumping spider.



This was just hangin' out on a leaf of my grape vine.
