An advanced design stealth bug

Well ok it's an Andromeda lacebug - Stephanitis takeyai. Found on one of my rhododendrons. 3.8mm total length. 5dmk2/MPOE-65/430Ex flash Focus stacked using zerene.

Good grief! That's an absolutely spectacular insect, nicely captured too! Why can't I ever find bugs like that? You've given me extra determination to look even harder though...

Beautiful insect, great capture. Looks like stained glass or a Tiffany style work of art.

Great pictures! If anyone is interested, lace bugs are very common and are seen on the undersides of leaves of various deciduous tress in my experience. They can also turn up in great numbers if you use a sweep net in a field.
They are small, but that is not a challenge here.
