Not seen them with that yellow colour here Brian, love that colour and almost mimicking a wasp of some sort. Interesting.

Laurie - found out something about the Xanthogrammas today. Found a newly emerged one for the second time and for the second time got attacked by black ants whilst photographing it. Looked it up and apparently the larvae inhabit black ant's nests (lasius niger) which might explain the rather coincidental proximity
