TEM mesh grid as cheap resolution target?

Post by lothman »

Hi all,

by chance I became aware of those small copper mesh grid for transmission electron microscopes. For example see here:
https://www.agarscientific.com/tem/grids-finder

They are available up to mesh 2000 (2000 holes/inch), providing a hole diameter of 6,5µm and bar width of 6µm. I think they could be used with incident or transmitted light when mounted on a slide.

They are not very expensive per piece but minimum order is quite high for us macro photopgraphers. But if there would be a common interest we could order a bunch and prepare some test slides.

What do you think? has this already be done and was this helpful?

regards
Lothar
