I assembled a nicer looking adaptor, briefly outline the procedure, and give some recommendations. The cost of this cable was around $10 and 2 hours of my life because I goofed something up.

Result is decent.
With the controller modification, your warranty is not only voided, the output current is lowered adequately. The motor no longer heats up to a point of untouchable.
