No I got the refund but did not get VAT back. which was nearly 25% of the total costMacro_Cosmos wrote: ↑Thu Oct 22, 2020 9:45 amAre you able to get that massive 180 euros of VAT partially refunded too? You paid $110 for the objective, 180 euros in customs is just plain robbery in this case.leanderborg220 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 22, 2020 7:56 amIf you test your lens which seems to have the same problem please let me know how it performs
I will add in the [1] footnote late too, going to bed now.

he has only one rating but currently offers 228.455 items

same seller item 143626306725 from China, maybe he just started to sell same stuff on new account, who knows, not worth the risk!
Re: New Mitutoyo apo 10x
yeah, stumbled over him as well.
he's also listing a bunch of rayfact 2x lenses with images with a taobao watermark, so I guess he's a reseller that looks for items there and lists them on ebay.

Finally after lot of testing with different light configurations, I managed to take some decent photos with this objective. What do you guys think as far as image quality goes ?
chips about 20 shots stack
spider about 200 shots stack
no retouching, all photos are as they came out from the stacking process.

Hard to say from web resolution images. But I got a USMC 10x a couple weeks back which ended up having bad delamination (wprse than this for sure), and one thing I have noticed is the image is distinctly yellowish. I wonder if you are seeing thr same effect here, or if your subjects just happen to be leaning yellow for real.
For detail rendering you'd want to look at 100% crops center and corner of that chip. Said usmc objective did not do great at this either, maybe since it was mailed loose in a box, though you'd have trouble seeing it in web res shots.

100% crop, I beleve the yellow tint is because led light is on the warm side.

I would like to know a bit more about your epi setup idea. I had a such hard time trying to build (or just to conceive the plan) an affordable epi setup that's compatible with ITL200, mitutoyo and a full frame sensor.Macro_Cosmos wrote: ↑Fri Oct 16, 2020 3:18 amCoaxial epi-illumination should be used. Find a way to mount the same model of torch (easy actually, I can design an adaptor).
For the tube lens, the clone CMH-200 or ITL200.
Then we use the same wafer.
For coaxial epi, we can all use the Olumpus U-KMAS, or build something with thorlabs parts.
That said, none of these are cheap. Expect to pay $400-$1000 for an adequate setup.

I did build one, I use it on my frankenmeasurescope. It uses a thorlabs cage system with a beamsplitter cube. My flickr has some more examples. The entire thing wasn't cheap and too much hassle. Also it's hard to get Köhler Illumination, a way simpler method would be using a dedicated illumination arm such as the U-KMAS.PhotogrAzure wrote: ↑Fri Jun 04, 2021 2:40 amI would like to know a bit more about your epi setup idea. This looks like a good lens to me. I'm not seeing any strange aberrations, and the level of detail looks good.
The detail is softened by diffraction as always, so for final display it would benefit from the usual strong sharpening.

Yeah, nothing in the crops looks worrying, though it would be the corners that would. But it's not like you can return it, so even if there were some subtle problem it clearly takes very solid shots, no need to overthink it.

Thank you! What size cube/filter did you use? I fear that U-KMAS might not be big enough to cover full frame. I know similar to U-KMAS there is a way to use Olympus BX setup to get epi, but that system has a field of view of 26.5mm. To use it with full frame a PE 2.5 needs to be added, not sure how much image degradation there will be compared to bare ITL200/TTL200.Macro_Cosmos wrote: ↑Fri Jun 04, 2021 11:00 amI did build one, I use it on my frankenmeasurescope. The U-KMAS should be enough, I've never tried.PhotogrAzure wrote: ↑Sat Jun 05, 2021 9:04 amThank you! What size cube/filter did you use? I used a 25mm filter cube. Anything above that is forbiddingly expensive. I have some 60mm cage components, but never had the chance to find a 50mm beamsplitter cube that costs less than $500. With a larger one, the corners should improve.
The U-KMAS works with Olympus BX, you'll need a little modding to make it work with M26 objectives and an ITL200/TTL200. Olympus also offers a more advanced U-RLA, has darkfield capabilities with the appropriate BD type objectives.
Olympus objectives do adequately cover full frame with direct projection, I'm not a fan of photo-eyepieces, I'd rather use a magnification changer or a telephoto converter.

Thanks Scarodacty, I checked all 4 corners and they do not look far behined as far a IQ goes.
