Schneider locking screws
So I have some Schneider V-mount industrial lenses which are missing the locking screw/s. While it is not a biggie for studio work, I'd like to get them round. Also, it would affect selling price if/when I decide to sell them.
But I am unable to find them for sale. Does anybody know where can I find those? Part number or something? I think a so easily lost piece has to be sold separately, but maybe Schneider thinks otherwise...

Re: Schneider locking screws
Thanks, Bob! Yes, that looks like it, or better said, sounds like it Maybe I should wait for the images to come to make sure... I'll try to contact RMA. Strangely, a search with that part number did not return any results, other than the RMA listing.

if this drawing in scale it would bet those are M2.5 grub screws ;-)

I mean the iris/focus/beta adjustment ring/s locking screw. I am unable to find those sold as spare parts anywhere. Btw, I just realized the RMA "assembly kit" comes with a hex key, so those are surely the barrel screws, not the ones I need.

Re: Schneider locking screws
I'm rather sure they use metric screws, so probably a M2.5 or M3 knurled screw. Just test the thread in your lens with a known metric screw and get some replacement screws like here
https://www.ebay.com/itm/M2-M2-5-M3-M4- ... SwI6RZvxH-
may be someone here owns this lens can take out the screw and measure diameter, thread length and the shape of the tip.
Re: Schneider locking screws
They are "standard" M2 screws. I would like to get the original ones though, but that seems next to impossible...
Sorry for the low-quality, phone pics.

Re: Schneider locking screws
Better than nothing, I guess... I have a few, but this was the only one that didn't have a dead battery
Well, gonna keep searching a tad more, before I give up on those

Re: Schneider locking screws
Didn't find the genuine ones, but these look pretty similar and are fairly better than a regular screw.
Min. order is 200 pieces, but price is $0.01 per piece... I have never bought from Alibaba though, it seems they do not accept PayPal. Will see if I can find them on eBay or Aliexpress.

Re: Schneider locking screws
I purchased a couple of Unifoc-12's and some extensions from an ebay dealer, and they came without several of the locking screws for the V38 mounts. I couldn't use them so requested a return, and instead the seller contacted Schneider and got a couple of the screw/hex key sets and sent them to me. These sets only included the set screws and hex key, NOT the thumbscrews for locking the Unifoc helicoid. Without any pics on the Schneider page, I'd expect the referenced "macro lens assembly kit" is the same set of screws and hex key.
This thread prompted me to contact Schneider to see if they have the thumbscrews available, and they are checking on it now. I will report back what I hear from them.

Re: Schneider locking screws
That's what I thought, thanks for confirming it. And thank you for taking your time to contact Schneider about this. I was about to contact them, but I'll wait to see what they tell you. Btw, I contacted them 3-4 days ago on another topic and I'm still waiting for them to reply.ray_parkhurst wrote: ↑Wed Sep 30, 2020 9:50 amI purchased a couple of Unifoc-12's and some extensions from an ebay dealer, and they came without several of the locking screws for the V38 mounts. Re: Schneider locking screws
I heard back from Schneider's Industrial lens guy and he says the screws are $10 each with a 20 piece minimum order. Seems expensive but when you're working with a $4000 lens or $1000 helicoid, $10 for the thumbscrew doesn't seem all that expensive. Anyway, if enough folks are interested I'd be willing to put in a group order. I'm in the US so it's going to be expensive for the EU/etc folks for shipping. Send me a PM with your interest.
Re: Schneider locking screws
Ray,
thanks for taking your time to contact Schneider and for the couple of screws you offered me.
I think Schneider should have those for sale as spare parts on retail. I've had quite a few lenses and mounts that came without the screws, that has most likely happened to more people.
I've contacted Schneider Europe on this and another topic. I'll report back if they offer the screws as Shchneider US did. So it would be cheaper for those of us in Europe.

Re: Schneider locking screws
So far I have only received one inquiry about joining a group buy. I plan to buy a couple, and one other forum member wants to buy a couple. Anyone else interested? They are certainly expensive, but if you need them, the original equipment is always best.
