Mitutoyo 10 and raynox (reversed or normal mount ? )

Hello,

Today I am going to a turner to makes for me step rings. And untill now i was sure to mount it normal to the mitutoyo and now i find few topics with reversed mount.

I will use DCR 150, with bellows.

Please someone tell me which kind of method is better.

There's no consensus on which way is best. I'm not even completely sure myself, for my own setups.

Theory says it should be reversed, so that the "infinity" side faces the Mitutoyo. Experience suggests it doesn't make much difference, at least on APS-C. (See the DCR-150 test, panels #4 and #5 at http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/v ... hp?t=18145.)

I use my DCR-150 reversed, with the full-frame test results shown at http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/v ... hp?t=23898.

Note that the tests at http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/v ... hp?t=18145 indicate that the DCR-250 works better in normal orientation, again on APS-C, and when only small separation is used between the objective and the Raynox. If you're going to cut a single set of custom rings, and think that you might want to use a DCR-250 at some point, then following the results of that test you might want to go with normal orientation to get the better results of the DCR-250 with little or no degradation of the DCR-150.

huge thanks for ur reply, at this moment i use mitutoyo with sigma 150 2.8 (older version)

and i am not rly happy of results:

at this moment i am out of money so i have to use only dcr 150
i switch from nikon bd plan 10x and i hope detail will be better

rjlittlefield - did You have some pictures with bug's to check the quallity of this setup, or did You maybe prefer some other solution ?

I don't have any bugs shot with Mitutoyo and Raynox on full-frame, but based on test targets and other people's experience, I have complete confidence that it will work great.
