Canon MT-24EX Flash Newer Version?

Canon MT-24EX Flash Newer Version?

Hi. I'm getting into macro photography and I was looking at the Canon MT-24EX Macro Twin Lite Flash as my first macro flash. From what I read it has been around for a long time. I saw that they came out with a mark II version of the ring flash a year or two ago, I figured they would also come out with a Mark II version of the 24EX. So far I have not seen nor heard anything.

At $830 it is a bit steep for an old flash. I don't want to fork over that kind of money for a model that old and then Canon comes out with Mark II a few months or a year later.

Probably almost everyone here has a lot more experience with macro photography and macro equipment so I'm hoping someone here has heard if a new model will be announced soon?

I recently read that a "world's first" macro will be coming from Canon but I'm guessing that has nothing to do with the 24EX II.
