Mitutoyo M Plan 7.5x: finally!

It took a bit of time, but I have a brand new Mitutoyo M Plan 7.5x NA 0.21

I hope to be able to post some test result with this wonderful objective in the near future.

Any suggestios for benchmark pics?

I suppose the warning on the keeper was to the point there. "do not fall or drop". Alas the bank balance is likely seriously damaged.

Niels, all the vital benchmark subjects I can think of are in my macro studio. Believing in good deeds, I would offer to test this unknown and risky objective on your behalf. Checking it on a suitably wide variety of subjects would require several years, but what is that trifle, for a fellow PMN forum member?

But please don't make this objective look too good, or my bank balance will diminish, too.

I finally had the time to do some quick testing. I have taken three different stacks of the same moth with the Mitu 5x, 7.5x and 10x objectives.

Here are the 'raw' output stacks without any retouching:

In my opinion, the Mitu 7.5x performs at least as good as the 5x and 10x Mitu's

I'm looking forward to any comments on the sample pics of this (wonderful) objective.

Your 7.5x seems right in line with the Mitty 5x, 10x, 20x, etc. This is no surprise, but it's nice to have confirmation.

For me, 7.5x would often be a convenient magnification. I'm just waiting for an assignment that this lens would be ideal for. Then I will purchase a specimen without a second thought.

It would be interesting to see a comparison of the 7.5x on a 200mm lens and the 10x on a 150mm.

Maybe, but I only have a 135mm f/2. I don't have a 150mm (fixed, or zoom in that range).
