Zerene & stackshot preview image?

Post by stormcrowuk »

I've eventually got round to getting a stackshot and whilst experimenting with it for the first time yesterday I decided to try connecting it to my pc via usb.
I was wondering if it is possible to see a preview of the image in zerene whilst adjusting the start end positions. If so what do I need to do? I am using a Nikon D300 and D800 with zerene Version 1.04
Thanks

Hello Stormcrow

I'm not an expert on this but I do have a Stack shot and Zerene and as there have been no other answers yet I think you'll find you will need the Pro version of Zerene to do what you want to do. I've seen some of your shots on Talk Photography and you seem to be doing ok the way your working.

Cheers Keith

Sorry, I missed this one earlier.

Zerene Stacker does not ever show preview images. That involves talking to the camera, and ZS does not talk to cameras.

However, the preview images you want can be provided by other software such as Canon EOS Utility, ControlMyNikon, or Nikon Camera Control Pro 2. They run alongside Zerene Stacker to handle the camera communications.

See the Recipes section of the Zerene documentation for StackShot HERE.

Yes, to drive the StackShot from inside Zerene Stacker, you will need either Prosumer or Professional Editions (after the 30-day free trial).

However, you don't need Zerene Stacker at all to control the StackShot with its own buttons and get preview images with the other programs. So, another option is to set up and acquire a stack that way, then process the stack with any edition of Zerene Stacker.

Thanks Keith and Rik for the replies.
I've got the prosumer edition of zerene and I've been able to control the stackshot from within zerene. Thanks to your info I've now bought "control my nikon" so I've now got something to play with tomorrow :D
Thanks
