Video cards and Photoshop

Post by DQE »

I found this web page to be an informative review of the effects of video card selection on Photoshop efficiency and speed. Its review of the recommended video cards seems helpful, too.

Adobe's summary is here:

My personal judgment is that many (most?) of these things are related to 3D manipulation and the Photoshop editing of such things. In Photoshopo CS6 I've noticed that the cursor does many nice things (accelerated by the video card) that didn't happen with CS4 or CS5. Also, there are some new cursor-driver options that happen very rapidly in CS6. None of this stuff is revolutionary but they seem stable with my fairly new Windows 7, Intel i7-based PC. I have twin video cards (Nvidia 560 Ti, 1GB video card RAM, connected in SLI), but I believe almost all of the CS6 video card-accelerated features would work about the same with a single video card.
