So I just got a couple of lenses similar to a Mitutoyo PlanApo.

I have been looking for a tube lens. I saw this from the same seller who has been selling the JML 20x oculars. I punched buy it now. I know the sellers very well and they would allow me a no questions asked return. (I have bought TONS of stuff from them)

This should have plenty of clear aperture. Does anyone recognize it. Is there supposed to be a shutter in the narrow portion. Does that matter? Did I do OK. It looks clean.

It is a late model enlarging lens for 4x5" film. No, it's not supposed to have a shutter. It's a very high quality lens when used for photo enlarging. I'm not sure how it'll perform as a tube lens. If I remember rightly, it's optimized for a 6x enlargement.

Specifications (which seem consistent with Peter's memory) for an Apo Rodagon-N 150mm f/4 here.

Nice lens Gene, could be tricky to "mount" it all up. I've got one in a barrel mount that looks to be the same. The specs say 50mm rear mount and 67mm front filter thread. Mine is much bigger :smt102. The rear thread is ~70mm. It look like the one you got comes with the mounting flange, but it is big. The front of mine has threads of ~80mm but I don't think it was threaded with filters (or "adapters") in mind. The front thread accommodates a screw-in retaining ring for the front elements, but does not look like any filter thread I have seen (both size and pitch).

The Apo Rodagon arrived this afternoon. I don't know whether it will be a good tube lens because as has been pointed out, it would be challenging to adapt to. And not optimized for infinity.

But it might make a very nice macro lens in its own right. It is a very large piece of glass(es). I think its time for me to drag one of the Polaroid MP4 (4x5) cameras out and see what I can see.

It has a waterhouse stop in between the front and rear sections. Looks like it could be put on a shutter very easily. I cannot find any flaw whatsoever in the glass or the coatings. Nor on the external anodizing.

I have decided to sell this optic since I have a Wild M400 with the ApoZoom which would cover the magnification range of this one without long bellows.

Someone has already bid. If anybody from the list is interested you can send me a PM if you wish.
