The objectives themselves are good for the price. See discussion at http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/v ... 871#104871 and in the surrounding thread.

Fair price for the objective but that shipping charge is crazy ... it's not like they are the Crown Jewels or anything all that valuable - I'd have thought that $15-$20 would cover anything that size to the UK.

You think that's crazy, just wait.
UK postage fees are just for starters. Read the fine print re UPS. UPS charges an exorbitant handling fee, they call it a brokerage fee, to you the buyer when they deliver the lens. Form what I have seen it means they fill out a custom declaration form that says "objective" value "$xx.00". They then hit you with the taxes and import duty, if any, on the lens (can't avoid that).
If only US-based companies would send stuff USPS and fill in their own declaration form then postage could be less than $10.00 (at least to Canada).

No man can be truly called an entomologist,
sir; the subject is too vast for any single human intelligence to grasp.”

Oh yes, I have imported plenty from the US in the past and a courier firm is a guaranteed way to be stung - big time. It's one thing to have to pay 20% "Import VAT" to the government (while at the same time not being able to claim back any pre-paid US taxes) but then the couriers slap on admin fees that are just the final kick in the teeth. I'd love a StackShot some day but at the moment the 'extras' are just making it too expensive for me to buy because they have to come from the US :(
