While testing flashes recently, I ran into a snag with my Nikon D5000.
I figure I must be missing something, but I can't figure out how to do a custom white balance for a flash exposure.
With my Canons, the procedure is straightforward: shoot a gray card using the desired flash, then set white balance from the captured image.
I was expecting to find a similar procedure for the Nikon, but instead what I find is a Measure mode that doesn't seem to work with flash, and a Use Photo mode that copies the color balance from an existing image, regardless of what that balance was.
I suppose I could iteratively tweak the balance to be neutral by using the relative adjustments, but what I really want is some way to set it directly using a gray card and the flash I'll be shooting with.
Is there a way to do that?
