Tube-lens Mountable Turret

Post by JW »

One issue I am having with using my 10x infinity objective lens mounted onto a tube lens is finding the sub-mm sized subject area. With a microscope fitted with several objective lenses mounted on a turret, this is quite a facile task, as once you line up the interesting area, you can easily switch to a higher magnification objective with the subject staying aligned with the optics.

Does anyone know of a 3 or 4 objective turret that could be adapted to mount to a 52 or 58 mm filter thread commonly used on 200-300 mm tube lens.

Big thanks in advance!

Jeff

The 3 objectives turret from old French Carrieri school microscopes connects to the 'scope body via a standard RMS thread and thus can be used on any RMS adapter. Some old Nachet used the same system AFAIK, as did some Jeulin and Pierron models based upon the same stand as the Carrieri.

Those come up quite frequently on [Fl]e[a]bay.fr, use the "microscope" and either "carrieri", "jeulin" or "Pierron" and you should get quite a few hits.

To adapt it, get the female M42 mount from a wrecked M42 bellows or camera body, a M42/52 reverse ring and a M42/RMS adapter, screw the reverse ring and the adapter on both sides of the female mount with some glue on the threads and Voila! , you've got a 52/RMS adapter for the turret.

There are some Bausch & Lomb nosepieces that I have seen on eBay. They are new and very inexpensive. I don't know what the mounting connection is like, or what the mounting thread sizes are on your objectives (these nosepieces are likely RMS)... but they might be worth a look...

One I posted before...
Note that the converter from most of the better infinite objectives to rms, tends to foul things
