Objective Containers

Post by flyer2o12 »

Hey,

I need to buy two containers for two objectives but not sure which ones to buy.

The objectives are:

Nikon M Plan 40x ELWD
Nikon BD Plan 5x

Can anyone provide links on ebay for these?

Thanks
:)

I purchased my "objective vials" from eBay vendor ten993046 a couple of years ago. He is still selling them--here are two eBay links current as of Feb 6, 2012:

Small vials:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Objective-vials ... 2eb8116ae8

Large vials:

Here is one of eBay vendor ten993046's pictures of the large vials:

Given the low cost of the vials vs. the substantial cost of the shipping, I purchased in one shot all I thought I would ever need.

Hi Chris, thanks for the reply..

I bought some of my objectives off this guy on ebay. I mailed him this morning but still waiting for a reply. My question, he has stated $20 for shipping and 50c for each additional item.

However, when I went to purchase a number of small and large vials, I had to pay x2 $20 ($40) for shipping as I was ordering two different viles.

When you bought both small and large vials, did you have to pay $40 for shipping for both sets of vials with 50c for each additional vile or the $20 plus the cost of additional viles?

It's been a while, and my memory of it is a bit fuzzy. I recall first looking at a straight purchase from the two auctions, and ending up seeing very high potential shipping charges, as you are. I contacted the seller, and he did combine shipping in some way that I recall seeming more or less acceptable.

BTW, lovely SE micrographs in your Flicker stream. I particularly like the stomata.

You can also find objective containers to a good price at Surplusshed.

Karl,

If you haven't already purchased the containers from that particular seller; just buy one and then send him a message indicating the number of containers and sizes you require. He will send an adjusted invoice.

The 'large' containers are good, but they also have an RMS thread. The 'small' also have an RMS thread, so you still need to find a home for the BD objective.

For standard sized vials with RMS thread, there is an eBay seller in the UK, see item 140595405705.

I have bought some and they are fine. They won't accept fat objectives such as Olympus S Plan Apochromats.

Oh that UK site should come in handy.. Rather than shopping them from China..!

I got some today in work :) As for the BD objective I got a nice fat objective vial but with the infinity objective thread. I can house it in that to keep it save and there were also some circular protective pads to keep it nice and snug in.
