Working distances of objectives

Post by Grimnz »

Hi all.

I am currently looking at some alternatives for 20x objectives. (for use on bellows)

Could anyone please advise what the WD of these Nikon objectives:
BD Plan 20x/0.40 210/0
M Plan 20x/0.4 210/0
M Plan 20X /0.4 LWD 210

Any help much appreciated.

regards
Graham

Graham, this link should answer your questions. (Scroll down to the last two tables with the blue headers that show the "finity" ones for 210 mm.)

For me the BD plan 20/0.40 is the easier to use of these lenses,
It has 2.5mm WD against 6mm of the M plan LWD but has a very narow tip, making very easy to light the subjects
I owned both and sold the M plan at the end

A couple of other lenses might belong on this list:

The Nikon M Plan 20/0.40 ELWD, which has a working distance of 11.1 mm. This is my 20x of choice on the bellows.

The Nikon M Plan 20x SLWD. I haven't used this lens, but others here have done nice work with it. None of the links to the NA or WD are working for me, at present. IIRC, the NA is a bit lower than the ELWD (edit--originally wrote "SLWD"), and the WD is quite a bit higher.

Thank you all for your help, I now have a better idea of what to lurk on ebay for! javascript:emoticon('8)')

With the BD objectives, will removing the front cap give you extra WD?

cheers
