In case anyone interested has missed this.
My same favorite seller who opened this auction at $14.99
Bet they were pleasantly surprised. (if they even are watching it.
They are very automated.)

The starting price was good; makes it interesting.

There's a couple of bidders going head-to-head, five days before the auction ends.... :o

... both of them should have known better, judging by their feedback.

A legendary lens that usually sells for well above $3000 (and at buy it now $3000 they don't stay too long on eBay!). The current price is actually a bargain given the current market and I bet the price is going well above that since the seller is apparently reliable and not located in any country that tends to raise suspicions.

I think there's basically two kinds of people wanting to buy it: those looking for the best of the best, no matter the costs and the serious collectors. It's easy to get consumed by the urge to try to get even better gear and this lens is legendary, it has a steady demand.

Agreed, the lens will probably sell for between $1500 and $2500 based on recent auctions. It does not look clean so may not appeal to a collector but may be a nice user lens. It's described as in "excellent" condition so may have wipe marks, etc and any collector would shy away from it unless it was described as "perfect", "like new", "mint", or something like that. For this lens one of those words is work $1000 extra!
