Per Rik's tips, I've re-watched the Zerene instructional videos and using Rik's suggestion, I found this 50 pic stack editing much easier (although it's easier than the louse claw, not quite as deep).
I processed via both methods, Pmax and Dmap, then used one as the base and applied the other as necessary. I was happy with the result, but then noticed the strange artefacts from Dmap, so re-did the Dmap using a higher contrast threshold, then re-applied that output as I saw fit. Cool!
Craig advised me to try some sorbothane mounts to minimise any vibrations, now that the scope is on a chopping-block which is on the sorbolene, YES, it's pretty well impervious to any vibrations.
This first image is the final result of all the editing. Taken with my new 4x apo

Here is the Pmax, I liked the detail in the stalk, so used that:

Here is the Dmap, preferred this for the patterns in the chloroplast area, however notice the artefacts. I can't show you the reprocessed Dmap image I used to remove the artefacts, but the first final result show where I was able to correct for those. I looked and looked at individual images, only a few were worth applying for the fibrous detail, in the main the Dmap and Pmax combo worked really well, so thanks Rik!
A new Ikea's opened up in Springvale down here, so I'll pop over there and get some Janso's soon. I know I can do much better re. lighting, but step by step..
