Got distracted shooting birds and grand kids for a few weeks. This is the very thing I wanted to do - shoot top down with lighting I can control. I wanted to paint with light and with shadow. I learned a great deal, and encountered issues I never guessed would exist by simply scaling it all down to such a small level. How light behaves differently was probably the biggest shock, and how embracing that difference actually helped - though counter intuitive. The subject is a Maple seed in it's "helicopter" sheath. They lay on the lawn just a couple days, but there were changes occurring. The seed end is about 6mm high, and at the transition to the aerial wing is the target. Thanks for all the help everyone.
