Zebrina pendula leaf

Post by LSRasmussen »

Hi all,

Just wanted to share this image of the underside of a Zebrina pendula leaf, a common houseplant here in Denmark. Lighting is normal brightlight and the stomata are naturally highlighted.

Agreed! I have never seen anything like the coloration on this leaf, and it is very well photographed.

Thanks Charles & Rik,
What prompted me to look at the leaf was actually the topside as it has stripes that reflects sunlight. I was interested in how the cells managed that. Then I noticed the undeside was red/purple and had a look. I was very much surprised to see the stomata cells were green while the surrounding cells were red/purple. You do not see that without magnification.
