Quartz wedge conoscopic

Post by bernhardinho »

Hi friends

just for the fun of it I tried some conoscopic pics of a quartz wedge. You look into the rear focus plane of the 40x objective under crossed polars.

Moving the wedge which has a range of 0-3 λ, the interference colors change. Really great fun to watch

Thanks for sharing these Bernhard. I have had a old Unitron polarizing microscope now for several years, read up on conoscopic imaging but never got around to trying it. Maybe this will get me started again when I find time.
