Re: Christmas Cactus stomata
Is that the flower petals or the leaves? The flowers themselves are pretty interesting when back lit.

Or is it nail polish peeled off the leaf? That's how many botanists observe and preserve stomata.Bob-O-Rama wrote: ↑Wed Dec 14, 2022 3:06 pmIs that the flower petals or the leaves? The flowers themselves are pretty interesting when back lit.

Really? I didn't know that. There are a number of things that I have wanted to stick and peel here of late. I may just have to give that a try.Lou Jost wrote: Or is it nail polish peeled off the leaf? That's how many botanists observe and preserve stomata.

Re: Christmas Cactus stomata
It is from a leaf. The section was made by cutting a narrow square halfway through the thickness of the leaf with an Exacto knife and peeling the skin away. The stomata of the Christmas Cactus are relatively large compared to other plants. Our plant is just starting to blossom so I will take a look at the petals.
