Cocconeis scutellum var. scutellum

Zeiss Planapo 63x/1.4, DIC, 30µm length, stacked in Photoshop, Marine sample, Alborán Sea

The one I measured is on the left, almost halfway down next to the broken diatom that looks like a half moon.

Very nice! I often find these adhered to seaweed and other marine curiosities.

Thanks Macro_Cosmos, indeed, and in mostly high concentrations. Infestation?

In the study linked above all samples taken in the Mediterranean were attached to the sea grass Posidonia oceanica
