I recently got an Olympus E-620 body and am still tweaking it on my main scope, so I apologize for the image quality of this specimen. It appears as a lattice and the various shapes of its elements intrigues me. Any ides as to what it is? I can't find any matches in my algae references.
For scale, there is an Odontidium shell on the right.

Re: Mystery Mesh
My vague suggestion is that this is a bit of decayed leaf, digested down to a ghost of more resilient material. The zig zaggy pattern outlines individual epidermal cells.
Epidermal patterns in leaves varies with species, but here is an example of a similar pattern: http://sdymphoto.com/post/2020/09/07/la ... -20x-x1.4/
Maybe the structures outlining the cells are cell-cell junction structures?
