My first live samples under the microscope

Post by seta666 »

Unless you consider three sad polen grains as live samples..

Yesterday I went to an irrigation ditch (Acequia) and collected a couple of water samples, one with bottom mud/dirt.
It is full of live, most species repeat over and over but I saw some very interesting stuff, difficult to Photograph because of fast speed.

Lots of diatoms too; all this pictures with nikon CFN 40/0.65; I am waiting for a CF 40/1.0 Oil and a CFN 100/1.25 Oil. Quality has a huge margin of improvement as my set up TL is off ; also I am new to microscopes and I do not have any tools to isolate/clean this kind of subjects What would I need?
I just added a drop of dirt with water and scan around looking for stuff; mixing it with clean water made it possible to isolate some specimens but most were surrounded by dirt.

I used a combination of ND/gradient filters I had from when I started photography, mixed them on top of the light source to get some shadows.

All pictures have cropping; first one the most last one the least. WB could be better; I am still rusty
ID's are welcome
