PZO Pluta DIC MPI5 / MPI-5 -> pictures of Diatoms

Post by Soki »

Hi guys,

I got my new pluta system and I'm super happy with it. If you have any questions about it, please let me know. The pictures are only cropped and sharpened after the strong compressing. No other post processing to show the unadulterated possibilities of this system.

best,
Simon

Vey nice outputs. Did you follow any particular set up instructions/processes for your MPI5? What objectives?

Thank you., Best, John

You’re welcome:)
there are so less output pictures around.

I used a Nikon CFN Planapo 60 0.95 160/0.11-0.23 without an eyepiece. I used it with the „40“ condenser prism.
Minutes ago I used it a Zeiss Planapo 25 0.65 169/0.17 and a KPL8 with condenser prism „20“ with very good result. Thiamin the most flexible DIC System out there and pretty much every finite lens can be used with it. This counts only for the MPI5, not the MPI2 / MPI3.

There’s pretty much information about this system in german forums and I also found a quick start Guide. After that I got used to the functions of the system more and more. I have this system since Friday (this week) so I‘m still experimenting.

If you’re interested in the quick start guide I will translate it in English and post it here.

best,
Simon

Hey John,

here’s the QuickStart guide:

1. put the handle of the prism ton on „0“
2. rotate the Pol analyzer of the prism ton to the red marked „45“
3. set the prism condenser to „0“
4. „köhler“ the illumination
5. cross the original polarizer or another high quality polarizer to highest possible extinction (picture as dark as possible). The polarizer can also be put directly on the field stop.
6. choose the objective-matching condenser prism ( 10, 20, 40 or 100)
7. set the handle of the prism ton to „1“
8. choose the background colour by rotating the micrometer screw of the prism ton (gray / grayish blue colour seems to make the best DIC effect). The micrometer screw moves the prism horizontally.
9. for a homogeneous background rotate the fluted ring of the prism ton to the point of highest homogeneity. It can be rotated in both directions. The fluted ring moves the prism vertically.

Now you can enjoy the image;)

best,
Simon

Oops, I thought you meant the PZO Biolar as I have.
